SSH Announces University Licensing Program

HELSINKI, FINLAND and WELLESLEY, Mass. – June 13, 2005 – SSH Communications Security (HEX:SSH1V), a world-leading provider of enterprise security solutions and end-to-end communications security, and the original developer of the Secure Shell protocol, today announced a University Licensing Program in which institutions of higher education can license SSH Tectia at discounted rates. SSH Tectia is an enterprise class suite of security solutions based on SSH’s award winning SSH Secure Shell used by millions worldwide.

The University Site Licensing Program enables the university to protect student, faculty, and alumni records, various other internal data, and student and faculty health records for HIPAA compliance with the SSH Tectia client/server solution. SSH Tectia Manager allows system administrators to deploy and upgrade SSH Tectia software, maintain control of accounts, manage security policy and support auditing functions from one central location.

“The University Licensing Program has given Colgate University the opportunity to implement an enterprise-class data security system that we can manage and maintain to support our faculty, students and alumni that need to send and receive files, email and administer our servers,” said Jen Servedio, Network & Systems Administrator. “With an ever changing user population, it is almost impossible to maintain policies and access rights. With SSH Tectia, we can now easily gain control of IT management by deploying, maintaining and auditing the SSH environment.”

“Universities have been forced to design and implement high-level data security programs, similar to those deployed at large enterprises,” George Adams, president and CEO, SSH Communications Security, Inc. “Unfortunately, universities have become easy, high profile targets for DoS attacks and other network-related threats that weaken data security. However, unlike commercial organizations, universities have fewer financial resources to invest in this level of security. We are pleased to offer SSH’s University Licensing Program that helps to alleviate these financial barriers and promotes the widespread adoption of SSH Tectia at universities worldwide.”

Under the Program, universities can purchase SSH Tectia packages by an attractive site license, or by individual product licenses for SSH Tectia Manager, SSH Tectia Client and/or SSH Tectia Server. The site license is available under a small, medium or large model, with a perpetual license as long as the maintenance contract is valid. SSH Tectia support is offered at a percentage of the site license total, and includes software updates, e-mail support and phone startup support with a multi-year commitment under the Program terms. Interested university IT managers should contact SSH Sales at www.ssh.com for full Program details.

The University Site License Program is an attractive and cost-effective offering that enables universities of any size to implement the SSH Tectia solution at a fraction of the cost of enterprise commercial licenses and includes one year support at no additional charge.
