These annual InfoWorld awards recognize individuals whose vision and expertise are directing the future of enterprise technology, and who have had a significant impact on the evolution of the technology world. In addition to being added to InfoWorld’s Innovators Hall of Fame, InfoWorld also honors several up-and-coming leaders. Final selections were made by the InfoWorld senior editorial staff.

“Security breaches and federal regulators have companies in search of a more penetrating view into their networks,” wrote Richard Gincel, InfoWorld associate editor. “Dan Farmer responded by developing the Elemental Compliance System, security compliance software that provides policy-based views into all computers on the network. It monitors and enforces cross-platform host- and network-level policies on individual machines, allowing companies to improve network security and to ensure compliance across a wide-reaching organization.”

“InfoWorld is a respected leader and provider of technology information, and I’m honored to be recognized by them,” said Mr. Farmer. “The tremendously positive customer response and industry recognition about our approach to improving security and compliance has been immensely gratifying. Since launching Elemental in April it has been a banner year, and as the award suggests we look forward to bigger and better things in the years to come.”

Elemental’s award-winning product is the world’s first solution that unifies policy management, host configuration and network access control in one seamlessly integrated offering. For the first time, enterprises can easily express cross-platform security policies that affect individual computers and their behavior on the network, gather meaningful up-to-date information to compare to established metrics, and selectively enforce policies across a diverse, dynamic environment. Security compliance has become a top priority for enterprises due to the pressures from increasing frequency and severity of security breaches, and from regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
