BeCrypt Appoints Senior Software Industry Executive As Non-Executive Chairman

BeCrypt, the leading UK encryption security company, today announced the appointment of Barney Quinn as Non-Executive Chairman. Barney has more than 20 years’ experience managing and developing software businesses both in the UK and internationally. At BeCrypt he will help drive the company’s growth and support its international development and fund raising activities.

Barney is a former Board Director of Sherwood International, a provider of software and services to the insurance market, which was acquired by SunGard, the $3billion software and services group, in 2003. Between 1985 and 2004, Quinn worked in a variety of roles at Sherwood, setting up and growing its North American business and, latterly, as Chief Operating Officer.

“BeCrypt has world beating technology which is fast becoming the standard for software encryption in the public sector, notably within government and the military,” said Barney Quinn, Non-Executive Chairman, BeCrypt. “My challenge is to assist the BeCrypt Board on business expansion and funding activities and help to drive shareholder value.”

“The appointment of Barney as Non-Executive Chairman has already had a positive impact on the business,” said Peter Jaco, Chief Executive Office, BeCrypt. “His wealth of experience in the building, funding and international expansion of software businesses will help to position BeCrypt for our next stage of growth.”

Prior to Sherwood International, Barney worked for Burroughs Corporation (subsequently acquired by Unisys) for 11 years, where he held a variety of sales and marketing management roles.

Barney is also a non-executive director of AIM listed Raft International plc, a provider of software solutions and services in the credit and operational risk sectors, and acts as an advisor to a number of venture capitalist organisations.
