Aventail Introduces High-End SSL VPN Appliance
November 14, 2005 — Aventail, the best-of-breed SSL VPN product company, has announced the high-performance Aventail EX-2500. Expanding its SSL VPN appliance family, the EX-2500 is a new high-end appliance for large scale deployments of up to 2,000 concurrent users. The EX-2500 is ideal for mid to large-size enterprises with hundreds to thousands of remote users as well as Aventail’s many service provider partners.
The appliance comes standard with all access methods and feature add-ons, including Aventail Secure Desktop, Aventail Connect, Aventail OnDemand, Aventail Mobile and Native Access Modules for Citrix and WTS applications, making it the most cost effective enterprise solution on the market. Competing products require additional licensing fees for advanced features or access methods.
The EX-2500 further expands Aventail’s high availability and clustering capability, with active/active stateful failover and integrated load balancing for a two-node cluster. For companies with more than 100,000 users, the EX-2500 can support cluster configurations of up to eight-nodes with an external load balancer. Aventail has more than eight years experience serving large enterprise customers through its own managed services and appliance business as well as through its many service provider partners, such as AT&T, BT Infonet, MCI and Sprint.
As with Aventail’s other appliances, the EX-2500 is built on Aventail’s proven Smart Technology SSL VPN Platform (Aventail ST). Released last month, Aventail ST provides one secure gateway for all remote access scenarios, with a common end user experience and a centralised management model for all access methods, devices, users and resources. The Aventail SSL VPN works over any type of network connection, wired or wireless, with many Aventail customers using it to not only secure remote access but also traffic over their WLANs.
Pricing and Availability
The Aventail EX-2500 is available now through Aventail’s UK distributor Sphinx and other global channel partners. Pricing is based on number of concurrent users and begins at £17,500 for 100 concurrent users, inclusive of all access methods, add-ons and features.
“The new EX-2500 completes the Aventail SSL VPN set along with the existing EX-750 and EX-1500,” says Mark Hatton, managing director at Aventail distributor Sphinx. “We can now offer our resellers competitively priced, market-leading remote access solutions for as few as 10 users all the way up to the largest organisations and service providers.”
