Application Security, Inc. Signs Reseller Agreement With Little eArth Corporation, Leading Japanese Security Solutions Provider
NEW YORK, Infosecurity Conference & Exhibition — December 6, 2005 — Application Security, Inc. (AppSecInc / www.appsecinc.com) today announced that it has entered into an exclusive reseller agreement with Little eArth Corporation Co., Ltd. (LAC), a prominent force in the fast-growing movement to secure Japanese databases against attacks and breaches of privacy. Under the new agreement, LAC will have exclusive rights to distribute the Japanese version of AppDetective(TM), the world’s leading vulnerability assessment scanner.
Like the United States and an ever-expanding list of countries, Japan is challenged not only by a rising number of security incidents, but also by an increase in attack severity. Large enterprises and government agencies have anywhere from hundreds to thousands of databases deployed, and the need to protect these databases from external and internal threats becomes ever more critical.
A key part of Japan’s privacy regulatory framework, the Protection of Personal Information Act, became fully effective on April 1, 2005. Since then enterprises in Japan have been working to ensure that taking advantage of the powerful benefits of information technology does not compromise the legitimate privacy of consumers. In addition, Japan is readying its marketplace for its own version of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), expected to take place as early as 2008. Like its American predecessor, this law is expected to challenge domestic businesses with stiff new requirements for reporting and record-keeping.
LAC is the leading company dedicated to network security in Japan, and provides security services and products. They are also a founding member of the Japanese Database Security Consortium, a group of technology vendors and systems integrators whose charter is to develop standards for database security.
