atsec information security Consultant Receives KPMG Information Security Management Systems 2005 Award

MUNICH, Germany December 15, 2005 atsec information security, an independent, standards-based information technology (IT) security consulting and evaluation services company, today announced Dr. Oliver Weissmann, senior security consultant, received the KPMG ISO/IEC 17799:2005 Award during KPMG ISMS (Information Security Management Systems) 2005 Awards ceremony.

The ceremony was held on December 12, at the 7799 Goes Global Conference in London. The annual award recognizes those individuals who have played an important role in shaping and promoting best practices in information security, but also those who provided leadership in the development or deployment of ISMS standards or in ISMS certifications.

The award recognizes Dr. Weissmann’s achievement as co-editor of the ISO/IEC 17799:2005 Information technology – Security techniques – Code of practice for information security management standard, released in June 2005, as a revision of ISO/IEC 17799:2000. Dr. Weissmann was commended for his skill in managing the editorial process and the international editorial team and the significant role he played in the development of the standard. He shares the award with Dr. Angelika Plate, co-editor on the project.
