AEP Networks’ VPN Solution Revolutionises Remote Working for Tower Publishing’s Staff, Suppliers and Customers

SOMERSET, NJ – February 27, 2006 – AEP Networks, Inc., a leading provider of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPN and secure application access management solutions, announces that Tower Publishing, a UK-based company that manages subscription services for over 50 publishers and more than 500 magazines, has implemented the AEP Netilla Security Platform (NSP) to give staff secure, anywhere/anytime access to company data and applications. Since installing the NSP, Tower Publishing has seen a significant reduction in the number of support calls and can now offer staff a more flexible work environment.

Tower Publishing provides subscription fulfilment and customer services that must be available electronically, in real-time over the Internet. Some of the company’s core services include: controlled circulation, paid subscriptions, database analysis and reporting, fulfilment, and e-commerce solutions such as on-line credit card authorisation and electronic direct debit processing.

Before installing the NSP, the company used three separate remote access methods. Operating multiple remote access systems created major technical challenges and generated additional costs. The company spent excessive time and money on support calls and spent many hours setting up VPNs on individual PCs. Tower Publishing standardised its system by implementing the NSP and immediately saw a drop in the number of support calls. Maintenance also became less time consuming because the IT department could make applications available via Terminal Services and could login remotely to resolve problems.

“The biggest benefit has been the ease-of-use in setting up connections for staff and clients,” said Faizal Dagia, Technical Support Manager at Tower Publishing. “The SSL VPN has given our staff the ability to use Tower’s network as if they were actually working at their desks. They can respond to email, connect to shared files and other key systems from home.”

In addition to giving staff secure and remote application access, Tower Publishing can also allow major software suppliers to gain temporary access during new software implementations and for ongoing support, as well as for linking up a remote call centre to the network.

Romina Brunas, Circulation Manager at VNU Business Publications, said, “I use Tower Publishing’s SSL VPN to access our subscription data demographics for data mining, issue runs, and data extractions. I use it every day and I couldn’t do my job without being able to mine the database immediately, all the time. What I like best about the solution is that everything is up-to-date, it’s easy to use and it gives me immediate access for sales counts and data requirements.”
