nCircle granted patent for network security system

nCircle has been allowed its third patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, for “Interoperability of Vulnerability and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).” The patented technology is found in nCircle nTellect, which integrates nCircle’s market-leading vulnerability and risk management solution with intrusion detection and intrusion prevention systems to reduce false positives by more than 95 percent.

The most recent patent covers innovations that greatly improve the effectiveness of intrusion detection and prevention systems by virtually eliminating false positives through real-time correlation with end-point vulnerability intelligence. The most recent patent award is an extension of a previous nCircle patent No. 6,957,348 entitled “Interoperability of Vulnerability and Intrusion Detection Systems.”

“This patent is a welcome addition to nCircle’s expanding patent portfolio covering vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection and risk management. Through this patent, our integrated solutions virtually eliminate false positives — the bane of security professionals — in vulnerability and intrusion detection and allows companies to focus on responding to ‘real’ risks. We are fully committed to carrying out the research and development needed to continually advance the vulnerability assessment and risk management field,” said Tim Keanini, CTO of nCircle.
