Webroot enters 2007 with a new CEO

Webroot Software, Inc. today enacted a series of executive management changes that will shape the company’s direction for 2007 and beyond.

Peter Watkins, former COO of McAfee, Inc., has formally assumed his new position as chief executive officer. His appointment was announced on November 6, 2006. He replaces C. David Moll, who, the company also announced, will assume the position of vice chairman.

“With my new role at Webroot, and the addition of a former respected competitor in Chris Benham, we continue to attract and build-out an all-star team of software security executives that will launch Webroot into its next stage,” said Watkins. “The entire senior executive team has deep and well recognized experience in identifying unique technologies and translating them into market leaders. I am extremely excited to lead these executives and this company as we meet new challenges and forge even stronger market positions.”

The company also announced that Chris Benham, a former vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Symantec Corp., has joined Webroot as vice president of Corporate Marketing.
