Anti-Spam Product Developers’ Consortium formed
ICSA Labs announced the formation of the Anti-Spam Product Developers’ Consortium. This consortium was created to advance anti-spam technologies and to provide a third-party information source to help the anti-spam user community select and effectively implement anti-spam products.
“Spam continues to challenge the enterprise as a persistent problem and now makes up the majority of corporate email,” said George Japak, vice president of ICSA Labs. “The goal for the Anti-Spam Product Developers’ Consortium is to work with product and solution providers to develop standards and definitions that allow for objective product analysis. Through the consortium, ICSA Labs will provide users with a credible and objective source for anti-spam information.”
ICSA Labs recently conducted a stakeholders’ meeting for anti-spam developers to discuss the significant need in the marketplace for cooperation among anti-spam vendors. The vendors present unanimously agreed on the need for a consortium, whose goals would be to educate end users about anti-spam products and create publicly vetted, objective, and credible security criteria against which anti-spam products can be tested and certified.
The charter members of the ICSA Labs Anti-Spam Product Developers’ Consortium are: Astaro Corporation, COMDOM Software, Fortinet, IBM, Kaspersky Lab, Proofpoint, Inc., SECNAP Network Security Corporation, Sendio, Inc., SonicWALL, Inc. and Symantec Corp.
