Cyber Security Industry Alliance appoints Tim Bennett as President
The Cyber Security Industry Alliance (CSIA) today announced that Tim Bennett, a 25-year veteran in U.S. and international public policy, has been appointed as its president. In this role, Bennett will lead CSIA’s efforts to expand its influence and advance cyber security policy in both the U.S. and Europe.
“We are excited about the unique mix of experience in international public policy and association leadership that Tim brings to our efforts, and I am confident in CSIA’s continued success under his leadership,” said CSIA Chairman John W. Thompson, chairman and CEO, Symantec Corporation. “This is a crucial year as more issues impacting the integrity and reliability of online information are being addressed within the realm of public policy. Having Tim at the helm will be a huge advantage to the cyber security industry as we continue to educate and influence policymakers here and abroad.”
Most recently, Bennett served as the chief operating officer and executive vice president for the American Electronics Association (AeA), a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit trade association. In this role, Bennett directed all operations for AeA’s 18 U.S. offices and 2500 members. Prior to this position, Bennett served as senior vice president international at the AeA for over five years, managing the organization’s D.C. policy team and meeting with European Union and Chinese officials on technology policy issues. He also led AeA’s offices in Beijing, Brussels and Tokyo, overseeing personnel, budgets, policy issues and legal compliance.
