GoDaddy.com #2 provider of SSL certificates

GoDaddy.com is helping to meet the need for Web site security by offering SSL certificates that provide for the encryption of sensitive data. The popularity of Go Daddy certificates is soaring; in fact, a new survey ranks the company as the second largest issuer of SSL certificates in the world.

“Go Daddy has a 14.7 percent share of the SSL certificate market,” said Rich Miller of Netcraft, LTD, an Internet services company that provides research data and analysis on many aspects of the Internet. “The company has seen an exceptional gain in this type of business recently and customers recognize Go Daddy as a leader in SSL certificate products.”

SSL certificates are used for everything from Web site login forms to online retail stores, online banking and charity donation sites. Netcraft has run its SSL survey each month since November 1996. Back then, Netcraft found fewer than 3,300 SSL sites with valid third party certificates. Netcraft’s most recent survey found 600,000 SSL certificates in use on the Internet.
