Patent awarded for secure database key rotation
Protegrity Corporation has been awarded a patent for database key rotation that allows for zero application downtime. United States Patent 7,325,129, developed by Protegrity’s Chief Technology Officer Ulf Mattsson, delivers a continuous process for changing encryption keys in relational databases ensuring initial encryption, real time updates, and on-demand key changes can all occur without ever needing to take business mission-critical systems offline.
The patented technology, available across Protegrity’s Defiance Data Protection System solutions, extends customer control over data security management while ensuring Service Level Agreements are no longer violated due to key rotation downtime demands.
The amount of time it takes an organization to comply with PCI and other data security focused regulations can be greatly reduced and enterprises will benefit from an increase in application availability without having to compromise database security.
