Anti-theft for Windows Mobile users
Tens of millions of mobile phones were lost or stolen in 2008, with the UK alone reporting 10,000 stolen every month. At the same time, more and more people and businesses are using sophisticated smartphones that contain highly confidential messages and pictures, banking details, contact information, e-mails and business projects. Protecting smartphones against loss and infection by mobile malware is therefore more important than ever.
F-Secure today announced the upcoming release of an enhanced version of Mobile Security that includes advanced anti-theft functionality. The latest version of F-Secure Mobile Security will be available on June 24, 2009 for Windows Mobile phone users.
The anti-theft feature includes remote lock, remote wipe and theft control functionalities. Using remote lock, a user can lock the device and protect confidential information quickly and easily by sending a single SMS message. A change of SIM cards activates the theft control feature, which locks the device. As an ultimate safety measure to prevent misuse, remote wipe erases all of the data on the phone when its user sends an SMS message to the device.
F-Secure Mobile Security enables smartphone users to enjoy the full potential of their devices, safeguarding data even in the unfortunate event that the phone is lost or stolen. It seamlessly combines real-time anti-virus and anti-spyware protection with a customizable firewall to make the phone completely safe.
