Nucleus Cyber acquires Security Sheriff

Nucleus Cyber acquired the Security Sheriff platform from Cyxtera Technologies and launched into the Microsoft SharePoint, Office 365 and file share space to advance the data security in on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.

Kurt A. Mueffelmann, former CEO of HiSoftware, the company that developed Security Sheriff, returns as CEO for Nucleus Cyber. New investment, leadership and domain expertise are expected to drive technology innovation that has already enabled dozens of Fortune 1000 customers to safeguard sensitive data against internal and external threats in Microsoft SharePoint, Office 365, and collaborative cloud platforms.

“Companies are making a mad dash for the cloud, and data integrity and security are falling to the wayside,” said Mueffelmann. “As Security Sheriff is AI-driven through its content and context aware engine, it empowers enterprises to automatically find, classify and secure unstructured data. It allows for safer collaboration across the enterprise to better protect against breaches, sensitive data misuse and unauthorized file access, to meet the expanding needs of a fast paced, intelligent workplace.”

The evolution of cloud and intelligent workplaces have changed the way enterprises store and share information, but the resulting lower costs and improved collaboration has come with a price. Increased risk of exposure and internal misuse of sensitive information, rogue environments, cyberespionage and human error are crippling effectiveness and productivity.

Nucleus Cyber is headquartered in Boston with regional offices in Melbourne and London. CEO Kurt Mueffelmann, has more than 25 years of start-up and software leadership experience and will be joined by members from the original Security Sheriff development and leadership team. Mueffelmann is a two-time Deloitte Fast 500 company CEO, previously serving as the CEO of several security and technology start-ups including Cryptzone, HiSoftware, Create!form International and RealWorld.
