iStorage devices pass FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certification

The iStorage diskAshur PRO² portable HDD/SSD and diskAshur DT² desktop HDD are now FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified. This is in addition to recent news announced only a few months ago that both products were certified to NCSC CPA, NLNCSA BSPA & NATO Restricted Level, making iStorage the world’s first and only company to have all these certifications.

“This a fantastic accolade and testament to the many years of research and development that iStorage has invested in developing the diskAshur PRO² and diskAshur DT² products. We are proud to be able to offer products with credible certifications that reassure businesses and government organisations throughout the world of the robust level of data protection offered,” said John Michael, CEO, iStorage Limited.

About FIPS 140-2

Level 1 – Security Level 1 provides the lowest level of security. Basic security requirements are specified for a cryptographic module. An example of Level 1 cryptographic module is PC encryption board.

Level 2 – Improves upon the physical security mechanisms of Security Level 1 cryptographic module that shows evidence of tampering by requiring features that show evidence of tampering, including tamper-evident coatings or seals, or pick resistant locks on covers/doors to protect against unauthorised physical access.

Level 3 – In addition to the tamper-evident physical security mechanisms required at Security Level 2, Level 3 attempts to prevent the intruder from gaining access to critical security parameters (CSPs). Physical security mechanisms required at Level 3 are intended to have a high probability of detecting and responding to attempts at physical access.
