Lockheed Martin Selects Forum Systems For Next Generation Information Security Platform

BETHESDA, Maryland and SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – December 15, 2003 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE – LMT) announced today a joint development partnership with Forum Systems, Inc., leading provider of trust management and threat protection XML Web services security solutions, to deliver a comprehensive solution for trusted information sharing and risk management. Lockheed Martin has integrated Forum’s XML web services security technology with its Radiant Trust Platform – an essential backbone for trust services. Lockheed Martin and Forum Systems will deliver the products and services to government agencies and commercial customers who need to safely aggregate and share XML and legacy data while assuring information privacy for owners as well as individuals. The companies are currently working together to support their first government agency customer, the Department of Homeland Security.

As part of the agreement Lockheed Martin has also purchased and installed Forum’s suite of Web services content security products, including the Sentry(TM) XML-WS Security Gateway, PresidioT PGP Security Gateway and XWallT Web Services Intrusion Prevention Platform.

“Forum’s suite of products give Lockheed enabling technology for trusted integration, including dynamic enforcement of privacy policies across distributed data sources and interoperability of system-wide authentication controls. In addition, with Forum’s new XWallT product, Lockheed will be able manage a new breed of Web services intrusions by mitigating threat-related risks associated with information sharing. You can be sure if there is a vulnerability, someone will be there to exploit it and XWallT is there to proactively prevent it,” said Dennis Groseclose, Director of Enterprise Systems for Lockheed Martin’s Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Systems group.

Lockheed Martin will use Forum’s product suite internally to protect its extended enterprise networks that include the Radiant Trust Platform. By including Forum’s solution as part of Radiant Trust Platform, Lockheed Martin has accelerated the flow and management of information and extended its security solution.

“Many of our customers are moving to XML and are looking for a channel to procure comprehensive and scalable solutions to secure their information data repositories and networks. We evaluated many products and Forum offers the most robust XML Web services and legacy security with the highest quality product, making it a key privacy enabler,” continued Groseclose.

Government agencies and extended enterprises worldwide are moving quickly to find the best information sharing platform to enable commerce and protect privacy in a post 9-11 world. However, the more information gathered, stored and shared, the larger the liability and potential for abuse. XML data, because of its easy-to-share format, can reveal content as well as context, and is especially vulnerable to misuse. These organizations must find comprehensive solutions that assure that the right data gets to the right person and that each transaction can be audited to prove compliance with government regulations.

“With XML it is not a matter of if there will be security breaches, it’s a matter of when. Organizations moving to XML must take responsibility and proactively build security into their solutions from the ground up. Forum’s deep element-level security capabilities complement Radiant Trust, the only accredited technology that allows information owners to establish and audit rules and policies on each element of their data in real time for proper oversight of information sharing,” said Wes Swenson, president and CEO of Forum Systems.

The next-generation Radiant Trust platform is created to deliver six key benefits: Privacy, Any-to-Any Data Integration , Any-to-Any Protocol Mixing, Accelerated Data Integration, Risk Assessment and Risk Management.
