Microsoft Patch Tuesday Brings Two Bulletins

This month’s Bulletins include security updates affecting Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  • Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-054 – Vulnerabilities exist in Internet Explorer, the most severe of these could allow an attacker to take complete control of an affected system.
  • Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-055 – A vulnerability exists in the Windows Kernel that could allow elevation of privileges on an affected system. An attacker must have valid logon credentials and be able to log on locally to exploit this vulnerability.

Users are recommended to update as soon as possible.

If you want more information about these Security Bulletins do check out the TechNet Webcast tomorrow that will present a brief overview of the technical details of the November security bulletins followed by an extensive Q&A session that will give you the opportunity to ask questions and get answers from the Microsoft security experts.

The presenters are: Christopher Budd, CISA, CISM, CISSP, ISSMP Security Program Manager, PSS Security, Microsoft Corporation and Stephen Toulouse, Security Program Manager, Microsoft Corporation.
