In South Africa, increased activity involving phishing, ransomware, and digital fraud has led to greater attention on cybersecurity at a national level. At the same time, rapid digital growth across Africa—particularly in sectors such as financial services and infrastructure—has expanded both opportunity and exposure to cyber threats. In some regions, cyber incidents have had measurable economic impact, highlighting the need for coordinated responses.
