Identix Launches Its First itrust Offering, A Comprehensive Security For Open Networks

itrust Combines the Three Most Important Components of Security: Authentication, Authorization and Administration

NEW YORK, PC EXPO, June 25 /PRNewswire/ — Identix Incorporated (Amex: IDX), the leading biometric provider of end-to-end security solutions, today launched its first itrust(TM) offering, a comprehensive access control security platform that safeguards information sharing and data transfer on open wired and wireless networks. Based on the three most important aspects of security — authentication, authorization and administration — itrust offers a comprehensive solutions platform for today’s wired and wireless business. itrust is offered as a service on either a transaction-based or annual licensing model.

itrust allows companies to deploy the three key aspects of network access security. For authentication, itrust enables companies to confirm the identity of users through any combination of biometrics, smartcards, certificates and passwords. The system also controls user access rights, opening only the appropriate network resources to a specific user. itrust’s administration features keep an exact record of transactions as they happen, allowing administrators to trace all access activity on their networks, meeting the demand for non-repudiation through Identix’s biometric solutions — an individual will not be able to deny that he/she accessed or transferred specific information or conducted a transaction.

“The world’s increasing reliance on open networks creates an unprecedented opportunity for rapid global communications, but it also opens the doors to fraud, identity theft, loss of privacy, breach of confidentiality and system destruction,” explained Grant Evans, Identix Executive Vice President of itrust Global Strategy. “itrust is a unique way to approach the security challenge because it tackles all three of the most important angles in a single system — absolute authentication of who you let in; control of what you let them see and do; and a complete audit trail of what happened. We believe this combination is the most comprehensive way to protect every aspect of information sharing and transfer, from a Doctor’s access to patient records and files, to e-commerce transactions, to a companies’ internal network environment.”

The itrust solution is designed for maximum flexibility and ease of deployment. One simple interface controls all aspects of security, and can be administered onsite or by a third party service provider. In addition, the system is designed to work within existing platforms and architectures without adding additional stress to sever systems. itrust is ideal for wired and wireless open networks and is compatible with many types of devices in the network. itrust is scaleable to meet an entities’ expanding base of users, and is robust enough to encompass the entire range of security needs. “Identix has long been the leader in biometric authentication technologies. With the increasing online credit card fraud and other cybercrimes on the rise, as well as the increasing demand for privacy, our customers asked us to build a complete security solution they could trust,” Evans added. “itrust is the natural evolution of our expertise, and an important step forward for Identix and for security as an industry.” itrust is ideal for any organization utilizing public networks to provide access to valuable or sensitive information, including e-commerce, financial services, healthcare and governments.

Itrust will be demonstrated at PC Expo at the Jacob Javits Center in New York from June 26 to 28 at booth 3354.

About itrust Technology

itrust consists of two primary components: the itrust Access Server, which controls user authentication and resource authorization, and the itrust Administration Center, the tools used by site administrators to set policies and request reports. The itrust Access Server and user credential and policy databases can be located within the enterprise or at an independent Internet Service Provider. To secure communications between the host site and the server, itrust uses symmetric key cryptography. Every transaction among the user, target server and itrust Access Server is encrypted.
