Major Web Retailer Chooses CyberwallPLUS Host Intrusion Prevention
WALTHAM, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 7, 2001–Network-1 Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSSI), a technology leader in active intrusion prevention solutions for e-Business networks, announced today that its advanced host intrusion prevention solution for multi-layered network security, CyberwallPLUS-SV, was chosen by a major Web retailer to secure its Web servers. The retailer, which expects revenues well in excess of $300 million in 2001, is replacing a competitive host-based intrusion prevention solution that does not offer the same robust security capabilities as CyberwallPLUS.
CyberwallPLUS-SV is the latest generation of Network-1’s hybrid, host-based security products that integrates a wide range of security techniques to actively block intrusions. This unique network security solution combines the fine-grained access control and stateful packet inspection typically found only in high-end perimeter firewalls, along with flexible, software-based intrusion detection techniques. This combination provides the highest level of host-dedicated protection from Internet-based and internal user attacks. In this implementation, CyberwallPLUS-SV will be used to harden mission-critical Web servers and those servers residing in a DMZ (demilitarized zone) residing between the Web servers and the corporate network. A DMZ is a network security term that denotes the area between Internet-facing Web servers and the local area network (LAN) that can present an area of vulnerability when implemented without specialized protection like host intrusion prevention.
