Recent potential email and Web threats

MX Logic published a new monthly report that aims to help inform organizations about potential email and Web threats in advance so they can take preventative action.

The July forecast calls for:

• Significant spam, scams and malware campaigns surrounding the highly anticipated July 11th release of Apple’s new iPhone. Scams will be especially prevalent if supply is unable to meet demand.
• The July 4th Holiday to reverse the four-month trend (March-June) of decreasing spam volumes.
• The Srizbi botnet to gain momentum and to account for approximately 50 percent of all spam volume circulating on the Internet.
• “Short and Distort’ stock scams (opposite of Stock Pump and Dump) may increase this month from the initial momentum it gained in June.
