Update for Sophos MailMonitor and SAVI Users

Sophos advises that MailMonitor and SAV Interface customers updating from the October CD should use the XRS version of Sophos Anti-Virus (located in the XRS\Win32 folder). Users downloading from the Sophos website are advised to upgrade using Sophos Anti-Virus version 3.62a. This is to avoid a late-breaking problem identified with the integration of SAV Interface and other anti-virus applications running under Windows.

A new implementation of the SAV Interface has adversely affected some customers running mail scanning software. Symptoms may include quarantining of incoming and outgoing email, along with reduced interaction with the SAV Interface. This issue has been addressed and fully resolved in the 3.62a version of Sophos Anti-Virus. Sophos advises that users of mail scanning software (such as MailMonitor, MAILsweeper, MailMarshal or MailGate) that integrates with the SAV Interface update using this version.

Customers who have received the October CD and are unable to download the corrected version are advised to use the XRS version. The XRS version will detect the same viruses as the 3.62a and 3.62 versions of Sophos Anti-Virus. The XRS version will not cause the mail quarantining problems as defined earlier in this article.
