CHICAGO, March 12 /PRNewswire/ — Aladdin Knowledge Systems (Nasdaq: ALDN), a global leader in the field of Internet content and software security, today announced a partnership with Brussels-based Belgacom that will integrate the eToken user authentication key into its E-Trust applications.
As the largest provider of telephone and Internet services in Belgium, Belgacom serves as a Digital Certification Service provider, and will be using Aladdin’s USB-based token to guarantee the online electronic identity of the trading partners that communicate or participate in electronic transactions via the Internet.
The use of digital signatures provides confidentiality, integrity and proof of sending messages. There are also digital certification services offered which guarantee the identity of every party in the system when Aladdin’s USB-based token is used as a trusted user authentication device. Aladdin’s well-known smart card eToken is the world’s first electronic key that works on the USB-port of the computer. This gives Belgacom a reliable and powerful solution for its PKI-products and forms a strong marketing and sales alliance between the two companies.
Belgacom E-Trust(TM) offers a range of security solutions for the Internet, such as Belgacom Secure Mail, Belgacom Secure File Transfer, Belgacom Secure Web Forms, Belgacom E-Trust(TM) Secure ApplicationWARE and Belgacom E-Trust(TM) Generic E-Services Secure Platform (GESP). In addition, Belgacom was selected by the NIC (National Intermutualistic Committee) for the development and execution of the CARENET network. This network secures the exchange of electronic messages between hospitals and insurance organizations.
“Aladdin’s Benelux office in IJsselstein, along with the entire worldwide eToken team, is pleased to work with Belgacom to integrate the eToken security key into its E-trust applications,” said Peter van Ruiten, General Manager of Aladdin Benelux. “With such a significant entry into the Belgian market, Aladdin’s eToken is continuing to gain a substantial presence in Europe.”
eToken is a USB device about the size of a normal house key. It is the only token currently available which utilizes as its underlying technology the robust DESX symmetric encryption algorithm with a key length of 120 bits. Unlike other USB security tokens, the eToken offers open, non-proprietary security standards such as Microsoft CAPI & PKCS11, making integration and security certification quick and smooth. eToken also enables full interoperability with standard PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) systems offering advanced connectivity to multiple security applications using this technology for authentication, digitally signing of transactions and encryption of sensitive information. eToken PRO offers in addition, advanced Smartcard based technology with 1024-bit on chip RSA operation. eToken also offers enhanced physical features in its newly designed one-piece plastic housing, providing an unmatched tamper-evident and water-resistant container.
The product’s USB functionality and strong two-factor authentication enable organizations to eliminate costly implementation and installation issues normally associated with deployment of smart cards and biometric devices. The ability to securely store private keys and digital certificates also enables integration with existing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) products from all major PKI vendors. To underscore this capability, Aladdin actively participates in the PKI Forum ( www.pkiforum.org ) to further the development and acceptance of USB tokens as a key enabler for PKI solutions.
Participation in the eToken Solution Partner Program offers companies who integrate with eToken or promote its implementation with streamlined technical support and joint sales and marketing opportunities. Additional information on the program can be obtained by e-mailing etoken@eAladdin.com .
