F-Secure Offers Full On-Device Anti-Virus Protection for Palms
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 7 /PRNewswire/ — F-Secure, a leading provider of security for mobile, distributed enterprises, today announced the release of its second generation anti-virus product and service for the Palm OS. F-Secure Anti-Virus for Palm OS provides protection against any known malware (viruses, trojans, etc.) on the Palm platform. The product offers on-device protection with continuous, automatic update service and technical support. It supports all Palm OS devices with OS 2.0 or later.

The application has an always up-to-date anti-virus database automatically pushed to the host PC and to the handheld at HotSync. The update system is totally transparent to the user. F-Secure believes that the only way to provide full protection is to have the application running on the device. Anti-virus solutions that run on the host PC and scan files, which are sent into the PDA, cannot protect the device from malware received by beaming and other means of data transfer.
