Computer Associates’ eTRUST Anitvirus Is First To Achieve ICSA Labs Certification For Solaris And Linux
Stringent Testing Ensures Protection Of Critical Data And Services Against Malicious Code
HERNDON, Va. and ISLANDIA, NY, May 13, 2002–TruSecure(R) Corporation, a leading security services provider, today announced that its independent ICSA(R) Labs division has completed the industry’s first certification tests for anti-virus products designed for the Solaris and Linux operating systems. Computer Associates’ eTrust Antivirus is the first product to receive this certification. The ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Certification program is an independent and comprehensive process that rigorously tests, assesses, and validates the security of anti-virus products relied upon by all types of companies worldwide.
“With the dramatic increase in virus and worm propagation, it is more important now than ever before to provide end-users with information to help ensure the security of their systems, particularly for Internet server operating systems,” said Larry Bridwell, content security program manager for ICSA Labs. “ICSA Labs, working with both product developers and corporate users, has developed the most thorough and rigorous set of accepted criteria for anti-virus testing and product certification. This certification, like all ICSA Labs certifications, helps end-users make informed security buying decisions for their organizations.”
To achieve ICSA Labs’ Anti-Virus Certification, a product must demonstrate that it can protect computer systems and media from computer virus intrusion, detect computer viruses on an infected computer system or media, and provide for recovery from a computer virus infection. To that end, ICSA Labs Certified anti-virus products must detect 100% of viruses on the current “In the Wild List””; detect 100% of the ICSA Labs’ Common Infectors List; detect 90% of known viruses not currently listed as “In the Wild” and do so without causing any false alarms. Complete criteria may be found at: http://www.icsalabs.com. CA’s eTrust Antivirus successfully met all of these specifications.
“eBusiness managers need to know that their entire critical infrastructure, data and processes are protected against the increasingly complex and insidious range of threats they face from emerging strains of malicious code,” said Ian Hameroff, director of antivirus solutions, CA. “This ICSA Labs Certification is another important validation of the efficacy of CA’s eTrust Antivirus in providing this essential protection for Linux-based and Solaris-based assets.”
eTrust Antivirus is also available through authorized CA resellers under the product name eTrust InoculateIT. Additional information about CA’s eTrust Antivirus and the eTrust product line is available at http://ca.com/etrust.
