Neoteris Announces Availability Of Industry-Leading Instant Virtual Extranet Products Localized For Japanese Market

Macnica and Takachiho Koheki Become Early Japanese Resellers of SSL-Based Secure Application Access Platform

TOKYO – April 7, 2003 – Neoteris, the leading instant, secure application access vendor, today announced that it is extending its sales initiatives into Japan by introducing a new localized version of its award-winning Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE) platform. The innovative Neoteris Access ™ family of IVE products enables Japanese enterprises to provision cost-effective, secure access to network resources for their authorized employees and partners through any standard Web-enabled device. The Neoteris IVE platform is currently available through leading resellers Macnica, Inc. and Takachiho Koheki Co., Ltd., in Japan.

The IVE platform, based on Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, has seen dramatic success and high demand for its flagship product, the Neoteris Access Series, from its limited release in Japan last October. Based on the strong preliminary response to the products, Neoteris created the new localized version to fully address local language and character requirements. In addition to growing sales channels, Neoteris also plans to build a strong local presence in Japan by adding regional sales managers, systems engineers, and marketing support to address growing demand in the Japanese market.

“As the leader in the secure application access product category, Neoteris is very pleased to introduce its new localized version of the IVE platform to the Japanese market,” said Neoteris President and CEO Krishna “Kittu” Kolluri. “Japan has a high concentration of mobile knowledge workers who are ideally suited to benefit from the ubiquitous access provided by our products. Based on the response we have seen so far, Neoteris anticipates the demand to continue to grow rapidly. As such, Neoteris is fully committed to continued product development, as well as providing support specific to Japan, to fully address this market demand.”

Neoteris introduced a novel category of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)-based secure access appliances in November of 2001 to address problems typically associated with remote access: high cost, poor security, lengthy deployment cycles, significant resource drain, and network complexity. The IVE Access appliances have since changed the way employees and partners access corporate information. Through the IVE platform, authorized users can gain secure remote access to network resources using any standard Web browser. Because Neoteris offers secure, application-layer access through a SSL-encrypted Internet session, the IVE platform offers enterprises a compelling solution to satisfy a variety of secure access needs.

“SSL allows users to achieve a private connection to their office without installation and support of additional client software because the browser manages the connection,” said John Girard, vice president and research director in Gartner Inc.’s research organization specializing in security and remote access. “We see SSL-based portal access methods as interesting alternatives to full VPNs for remote users who simply want access to specific applications, without the costs of maintenance or the security risks of opening up a tunnel to the entire corporate LAN. We project that by 2004, 60 percent of corporate users will use SSL for remote access at least some of the time.”

Since the introduction of the IVE, Neoteris’ revolutionary technology has been adopted by some of the largest enterprises in the world. The current user population includes more than 250 revenue customers, 25 percent of which are Fortune 1000 or Global 1000 companies. In response to the burgeoning global market opportunity and demand in the Asia Pacific region, Neoteris has developed its localized version of the IVE platform, initially for the Japanese market. This product extension enables Neoteris to more readily fulfill the global demand for its SSL-based access solution.

The company selected Macnica and Takachiho Koheki as initial Japanese resellers for the Neoteris IVE platform based on their strong field performance, localization expertise, ability to build lasting relationships with enterprise-class customers, as well as their reputations for superior customer support.

Pricing: Pricing starts at approximately US$12,490 (2.5M yen). For more information, please visit www.neoteris.com.

Neoteris IVE Secure Access Appliances
The Neoteris Access(tm) Series provides enterprise-class secure access to network resources for remote employees, customers, and partners. Contrary to other traditional access technologies, there is no client software to install because Neoteris leverages SSL for secure, controlled access to resources via any Web browser. The Access appliances also eliminate the need to secure or harden servers, or make changes to existing infrastructure. The result is a more cost-effective, secure access solution that is easy for customers to deploy and simple for end-users to operate.

Neoteris Access appliances provide application-layer access, stringent access controls, and granular auditing and reporting capabilities to further minimize IT headaches and security concerns. Additionally, the IVE platform offers enterprise-class high availability and performance scalability options, so secure access can be deployed on a wide scale without worrying about user downtime, lost productivity or network performance. Neoteris IVE appliances have passed rigorous security audits by TruSecure Corporation, Cryptography Research, Inc., and security and forensic computing expert Dan Farmer. The products have also won numerous awards as an innovative and compelling access solution, helping enterprises increase efficiency and productivity.
