Taicom Chooses SSH Communications Security to Secure its VPN Router Series

HELSINKI, FINLAND; PALO ALTO, Calif. and TOKYO – May 20, 2003 – SSH Communications Security (HEX:SSH1V), a world-leading developer of Internet security solutions, today announced that Taicom Data Systems has selected the SSH QuickSec(TM) Toolkit for Access Networks and the SSH TLS (Transport Layer Security) Toolkit for use in the development of Taicom’s new TSG-214 VPN Router.

The SSH QuickSec for Access Networks and the SSH TLS Toolkit allows developers to integrate IPSec technologies for faster time-to-market and reduced development costs. The SSH TLS Toolkit also includes full PKI functionality, including the use of X.509 certificates for authentication, revocation status checking and certificate enrollment support. This functionality is crucial for ensuring that communication sent via the TSG-214 come from an authorized sender and not a malicious attacker trying to gain unauthorized access to the network.

“We are pleased to be working with Taicom to provide a built-in security solution for its TSG-214 VPN Router,” said J.B. Dumerc, Vice President of Asia Pacific sales of SSH Communications Security Corp. “Taicom has consistently delivered cost-effective products that allow employees of large and small businesses to access information from the corporate network at any time from any location. With the SSH QuickSec Toolkit for Access Networks and the SSH TLS Toolkit, Taicom’s customers can now be assured that all Taicom’s VPN products provide the highest possible level of security.”

By offering full support for L2TP and IPSec (Internet Protocol Security), the Taicom TSG-214 can run up to 30 tunnels at the same time. Also, it includes, an integrated stateful inspection firewall supporting multiple Application Level Gateways to help ensure that each access point is secured. The SSH TLS Toolkit’s flexible platform allows web based secure remote management capabilities.

“Our new Taicom VPN Router series enables users to access the network remotely from several different access points at the same time, opening the possibility to attacks if left unsecured,” said Benjamin Lai, CPE Business Unit Director of Taicom Data Systems. “Taicom chose SSH because it offers strong solutions that ensure end-to-end network security in a real world network environment which, in many cases, includes remote access from the home office or on the road.”
