Panda Software Zaps Fizzer The Fastest
According to the German PC Welt magazine (
The PC Welt survey reveals how Panda Software made the antidote to the Fizzer virus available to all its clients on May 8, the very day that the worm first appeared.
Other vendors were not so quick off the mark. Many didn’t react until the following day and some hadn’t even prepared their solutions to deal with Fizzer until May 12, which for many, according to PC Welt, “was already too late”.
Fizzer is a dangerous worm which not only spreads rapidly via e-mail, but also acts as a backdoor Trojan, allowing a hacker remote access to the infected computer. It can capture keystrokes entered in the affected computer, and saves them to a text file. Hackers that get hold of this file would be able to access confidential information belonging to the user of the computer under attack, such as passwords for accessing Internet services, bank accounts, etc.
