GFI Slashes Prices For Event Log Monitoring by up to 60%

London, UK, 3 May 2004 – GFI has just made event log monitoring affordable to any company. Until now, monitoring event logs was relatively expensive. GFI’s across-the-board price reductions are about to change this. Companies can now purchase GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. – which performs network-wide event log monitoring and security analysis – for as little as $495 for five servers and $995 for 500 workstations.

“Although GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. has been a strong seller, we felt that small and medium sized companies were not investing in the technology, and we identified price as one of the main reasons for this,” said Nick Galea, CEO of GFI. “Yet, monitoring security event logs is so important, no company should do without it. Our drastic price reductions should help small and medium sized companies invest in security event log monitoring.”

The table at http://www.gfi.com/news/press.asp?release=lanselm5pricedecrease compares the new prices of a selection of GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. licenses with the previous pricing, and depicts the extent of the price cuts.

The need for network-wide event log monitoring

Network-wide event log monitoring is often overlooked or underestimated, yet it is the best way to detect attacks by malicious network users and to avoid failures on critical Exchange, ISA, SQL and IIS Servers. In addition, network-wide back up and clearing of event logs is important for auditing and regulatory reasons. More information about why administrators need to perform network-wide event log monitoring is available at http://www.gfi.com/lanselm/whylanselm.htm and at http://www.gfi.com/whitepapers/networkwide-security-event-log-monitoring.pdf
