New Tool From Syhunt Helps Organizations Secure Their Web Applications

August 8, 2005 – Syhunt Security today unveiled the Collapse software, the industry’s first high-performance, low-cost tool that allows web administrators to perform aggressive and comprehensive scans of an organization’s web server to isolate vulnerabilities and identify security holes. The tool also provides an easy to use interface and effective reporting to security staff members.

The Collapse scanner, a free tool available for download at the Syhunt Web site, requires basic inputs such as host names and port numbers to scan a complete web site and test all the web applications for security vulnerabilities. The tool provides the guidance needed to harden home banking, customer service, ecommerce and other web-based applications and deployments. Web administrators can create or customize security tests to meet specific needs. Once the scan is complete, the tool provides a full description of each vulnerability and the recommended solution to the user.

“Syhunt is the expert in web application security testing and vulnerability assessment,” said Felipe M. Aragao, director, Syhunt application security software R&D team. “The Collapse softwares combines the most powerful security testing technologies into an easy-to-use tool for clients looking to take the first steps in securing the integrity of their systems from possible cyber attacks and hacking.

The Collapse scanner is part of an integrated suite of products from Syhunt Security designed to help organizations identify flaws in their custom applications. To download the Collapse scanner, go to http://www.syhunt.com/collapse/
