SecureMac announces MacScan 2.2 spyware protection

SecureMac announced the release of MacScan 2.2, a minor update to its popular anti-spyware program. Starting with MacScan 2.1, MacScan has been totally revamped and is now a Universal Application, which will run natively on both Intel and PowerPC-based Macintosh Computers.

As of MacScan 2.2, MacScan includes the requested integrated update menu for both Engine updates and Spyware Definition updates.

In addition to new features, MacScan 2.2 offers greater overall stability, and addresses the following bugs reported in MacScan 2.1:

  • Improves stability and performance in demo mode
  • Stability enhancements to scan code
  • Improved installer support
  • Improved identification of spyware

Upgrades from MacScan version 2.0 and 2.1 are free, and can be obtained by either selecting “Upgrade MacScan” under the “MacScan” menu, or downloading the demo version from http://macscan.securemac.com and entering your serial number. The demo can be registered for $24.95.
