New beta version of Panda Security for smartphones
Panda Software offers all users the beta version of Panda Security for smartphones, its security solution for mobile phones. It provides protection for smartphones with the user interface UIQ and Symbian S60 and the operating systems Symbian 7 and 8. It can be downloaded free from Panda Software’s website.
“Over the last few months we have witnessed the appearance of a large number of malware samples that target these devices, such as the Cavir and Commwarrior families, some of which can even render mobile terminals unusable,” explains V?Âctor Omaechevarria, Product Manager of Panda Security for smartphones.
This tool scans MMS messages and inbound and outbound email messages, as well as data transferred via Bluetooth and infrared, and file system events (open, read, run files, etc.).
It can also perform an on-demand scan of the internal memory, memory cards connected to the smartphone, or both at the same time. Whenever a memory card is connected to the device, Panda Security for smartphones will scan it for threats. These scans ensure the device is free from all types of malware (Trojans, worms, viruses, etc.).
“Panda Security for smartphones works with minimum user intervention. The product interface is straightforward. Users won’t be bogged down with complex configuration tasks and the product doesn’t interfere with other phone functions,” says V?Âctor Omaechevarria.
