Rent A Coder is a web-based marketplace often used for outsourcing software projects. Apparently there is a phishing scheme in play trying to capture user login information.
The following site wide message now appears to registered users:
*Attention RAC Users: Update to Phishing Scheme on RAC site*
The last 2 weeks there were 4 bid requests that were posted and contained a link that was supposed to go to the buyer’s site. The same person has now started to place bids as a coder, and gives a link to their portfolio. The link actually brings up a fake RAC login screen. This person used this to try to capture login information for RAC users. If you think you may have been a victim of this phishing scheme, you should immediately change your login information and contact RAC.
Remember that you will never be asked for your RAC login information if you are going to a link outside of RAC. If you see anything suspicious please contact us immediately.
