Advanced threat management on high capacity networks

Fidelis Security Systems announced Fidelis XPS BladeArray as part of its Fidelis XPS network security product family. Fidelis XPS BladeArray delivers Deep Session Inspection technology to accommodate network capacities up to 20Gbps.

Through a scalable, blade-based architecture, Fidelis XPS BladeArray can be used to provide real-time analysis of traffic coming in and leaving networks to enable customers to maintain their security posture as requirements grow.

For organizations that deal with large volumes of network traffic; including governments, media and entertainment, gaming, software development, health care companies and academic institutions, it is challenging for devices in the advanced network security stack to keep up.

This is particularly evident in enterprises that have concentrated Internet access to a small number of high-capacity locations (Internet Access Points) and make use of modern IT infrastructure such as cloud-based services. Traditionally, security technologies have struggled with traffic requirements for these high bandwidth networks.

“For many years, enterprises who weren’t security minded have either not thought of using next generation security products capable of advance threat protection or used workarounds like traditional firewalls and other basic security devices,” said Hardik Modi, senior product manager, Fidelis Security Systems. “These band-aid approaches won’t work as enterprises need more bandwidth while having to counter advanced threats. New security solutions like Fidelis XPS BladeArray are vital in scaling to meet this capacity and catch every potential threat coming in or sensitive data leaving the network.”

Enterprises can deploy Fidelis Deep Session Inspection technology and its full range of use-cases using Fidelis XPS BladeArray; including Advanced Threat Management, Intelligent Forensics, Data Breach Prevention and Cloud Services Security, on high capacity networks at key points of control such as Internet Access Points and internal aggregation points, such as those leading to a data center or campus distribution point.

The Fidelis XPS BladeArray, which is also available in a NEBS-compliant chassis, making it suitable for deployment in Telecom environments with stringent reliability and quality of service requirements; is delivered on an enterprise-ready hardware platform. An internal switch provides the session-aware load-balancing function to distribute traffic between Fidelis XPS blades.

The load-balancing function is adaptive, so in the case of a failure being detected or when traffic exceeds the capacity of a single blade, it will be re-distributed to other blades without service interruption. Adding blades to the product increases aggregate capacity, so enterprises can scale the solution to match growing requirements.
