Limited seats remain for SANS Forensics Summit in Prague
Organisers have made a “last call” for attendees to register for SANS first dedicated Digital Forensics event in Prague this October. The weeklong event begins on the 7th of October with the 3rd annual European Digital Forensics and Incident Response Summit (DFIR) which includes some of the industries biggest names such as Bojan Zdrnja of INFIGO IS, Jeff Ham from Mandiant and David Kovar from Ernst & Young.
Seats are extremely limited for this already fantastic roster that is being improved right up until the start of the event to ensure it is as up to date and on topic as possible.
The event will debut the brand new FOR563: Mobile Device Forensics class, which will be taught by Jess Garcia and Cindy Murphy. Mobile device forensics is a rapidly evolving field, creating exciting opportunities for practitioners in corporate, criminal, and military settings. Designed for students who are both new to and already familiar with mobile device forensics, this hands-on course provides the core knowledge and skills that a Digital Forensic Investigator needs to process cell phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices.
Prague will also debut a completely rewritten FOR508: Advanced Computer Forensic Analysis and Incident Response with Rob Lee. The course has been updated to reflect a dramatic increase in sophisticated attacks against nearly every type of organisation. Economic espionage in the form of cyber-attacks, also known as the Advanced Persistent Threat (APT), has proven difficult to suppress and the course is aimed at meeting these issues.
FORENSICS 610: Reverse-Engineering Malware will be taught by Lenny Zeltser, a GIAC Security Expert (GSE), Senior Faculty Member at the SANS Institute and Incident handler at the Internet Storm Center. This session is the first time Zeltser, the primary author of this popular course, has taught in Europe.
Prague will also host an edition of NetWars “Tournament Play” over a two-day period to help identify skilled personnel and as part of extensive hands-on training. The competition consists of an interactive, Internet-based environment for computer attacks and analysing defences and is designed to be accessible to a broad level of participant skill ranges including brand new forensics orientated modules.
